About the course

Join Lauren Kingsland and Carrie Monger, of the Georgetown Lombardi Arts & Humanities Program (AHP) for a weekly online class that invites participants to explore folk dance as a form of mind and body connection.  Classes include a short mindfulness arrival, gentle and accessible movement inspired by global folk traditions, and a brief creative and reflective activity.  No dance experience is required, and cameras may be on or off. This online offering is a space to slow down, move with intention, and connect to a wider human story. One step, one rhythm, one memory at a time! Lauren Kingsland is a long-time AHP artist-in-residence, author, and fiber arts teacher dedicated to bringing out the creative side in each of us. She lives in Lakewood, Colorado and is grateful to be able to continue to serve the AHP community from the Mountain Time Zone. Carrie Monger is a professional dancer and movement artist-in-residence with the AHP. Her original choreography provides a rich mind-body experience as we dance the idea of the week. Accessibility Notes:  Closed Captioning is available.
